Today I’m over at Shiny New Books with a selection of five classic novels that are being made into films or TV series – some arriving on our screens in time for Christmas…
Read my post HERE.
They include the upcoming Netflix miniseries of Pride & Prejudice starring Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden, with Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell as the Bennet girls’ parents, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bough. Great casting – but can Lowden supplant Colin Firth in our affections? I doubt it.
Do we need another adaptation? Given that the BBC’s was 1995, and the latest film 2005 – this is the next generation’s interpretation perhaps? Do feel free to discuss!
Still, the hearts of most women of a certain age still go aflutter seeing Firth as Darcy in the BBC’s landmark 1995 series – can it really be 30 years old? I shall leave you with a gratuitous smoulder, you can imagine the voice to accompany it.

I’ve commented on your SNB post, and second a lot of what you say!
I have the DVD of the 1995 version, and you’re right – there’s never been a better version.
