I’ve done different versions of this in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2011 and 2009 – where it originated is way back in the ether somewhere. The questions evolve and vary over the years as people have fun and adjust them – and this set comes via a long chain to Davida at The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review, but I’ve kept a couple of my favourites in from last year’s set too, and inserted them where they fit best.
Using only books you have read this year (2021), answer these prompts. Try not to repeat a book title. (Links in the titles will take you to my reviews where they exist)
- Describe yourself: Maigret’s Madwoman. (Simenon)
- How do you feel: The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Kundera)
- I will never be: The Counterfeit Candidate (Brian Klein)
- You Fear: The Murder Farm (Andrea Maria Schenkel)
- Describe Where you currently live: The Galaxy, and the Ground Within (Becky Chambers)
- If you could go anywhere, where would you go: The Lincoln Highway (Amor Towles)
- Your favourite form of transportation: The Underground Railroad (Colson Whitehead)
- What’s the weather like: Light Perpetual (Francis Spufford)
- Your best friend is: Treacle Walker (Alan Garner)
- You and your friends are: Kings of a Dead World (Jamie Mollart)
- My family reunions are: Tinderbox (Megan Dunn)
- At a party you’d find me with: The Trawlerman (William Shaw)
- A happy day includes: Raising Laughter (Robert Sellers)
- What is the best advice you have to give: How to Life Safely in a Science Fictional Universe (Charles Yu)
- Motto I live by: All the Devils are Here (David Seabrook)
- Thought for the Day: Are We Having Fun Yet? (Lucy Mangan)
- How would I like to die: In the Company of Men (Véronique Tadjo)
- In my next life, I want to: Astral Travel (Elizabeth Baines)
Do have a go … I love looking at other people’s lists.
I chuckled at your first answer. When I did my version of this a few days ago didn’t know you were the creator but I’ll go back now and add in the credit.
That first answer was an obvious choice. I’ve never been the original creator – only a user and adapter!
I hope your family meetings aren’t really tinderboxes! Lovely!
Depends if we do a quiz or not – the sibling rivalry between me and my bro is finally easing up now we’re both older and wiser – just a little! 😀
Yes, that happens as we grow older and wiser. My sister and I are pretty close now.
Very clever! (and lots of fun to read) I’m terrible at this kind of thing but I love reading the responses of those who are more quick-witted than I am!
Brilliant first answer! Karen reminded me of this meme with her post a few days ago.I have mine ready to post on New Year’s Eve.
Ha ha, I’ve driven on the Lincoln Highway just last week! (It goes near my mom’s place in Pennsylvania.)
Here’s mine: https://tasmanianbibliophileatlarge.wordpress.com/2021/12/24/my-year-in-books/
Lovely, Annabel – this is such a great meme, but you always seem quite calm so I don’t imagine you as any kind of madwoman!!
Oh, I’m seething and bonkers inside, you know 😉
This is such a fun meme, thanks for hosting it! Mine is at http://bibliographicmanifestations.blogspot.com/2021/12/life-according-to-literature-2021.html
How fun!
I love those and do three of them every year. The last one reads like a story: https://wordsandpeace.com/2022/01/06/year-of-reading-2021-part-3/
