I need to get a wiggle on, as my friend Suzanne would say – for soon the return of Beryl Bainbridge Reading Week will be upon me. I still have plenty of Beryl’s novels to read but I also plan to re-read a couple that I read many years ago, alongside fitting as many as I can in of the others. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating one of our great authors from June 13th. If you need help in choosing a Beryl book – take a look at my dedicated Beryl page above.

Summer is a good time for reading challenges. I dithered over whether to join in with the 20 Books of Summer challenge hosted by Cathy at 746 Books, but I know that having to pick a pile in advance of my 20 books to read, despite it being really good for my TBR mountains, will certainly result in failure. I just don’t have that discipline – and I salute all of you taking part!
Instead, I’m going to do the same as I did last summer and join in the Books on the Nightstand Book Bingo. I’ve generated a new card I’m happy with, and will see how far I get – starting tomorrow. To get your own card, click here.
Here’s mine:
It may be a challenge to find a suitable book by someone called Annabel… any suggestions? My daughter is a fan of The Gilmore Girls and I’ve found a list on Buzzfeed of all the Books mentioned by Lori here. I don’t currently have a library card – but perhaps I could borrow a YA book from our school library to get around that one.
Are you doing any summer reading challenges?
