Dear friends,
I’m going to delve into the black-covered world of the teenage vampire novel, and I’m going to start with the biggie Twilight. Then I’ll make my way via Marked by P.C. & Kristin Cast (recommended by pal Julia) through to Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris – the first Sookie Stackhouse novel. Then if I have time, there’s the official Dracula sequel by Dacre Stoker, a descendant of Bram!
If all that’s not enough for me, there’s plenty more where they came from. My daughter commented the other day in the bookshop that you could tell which were books for teenage girls because of the black covers – she’s not nine until next week, but certainly knows her books!
I feel that I will have to come up for air at some time though, and a book with an intriguing cover (see right), Makers by Cory Doctorow arrived the other day. It’s a futuristic novel about the end of the economy, and sounds really fun in a dystopian sort of way!
P.S. Many thanks to Claire at Paperback Reader for helping me with that monicker – a prize will wing its way to you if you let me know where to send it.
Ooh how exciting! I'll email you directly.I hope you have a [blood]fest of a season!
I loved your suggestion as it allows me to include the whole panoply of undead monsters once I get fed up of the bloodsuckers!
You're braver than me! But I did buy Dracula whilst I was away.
These are the first lot of books my daughter has got into since Harry Potter, which she probably reread about five times, so good she is onto something new … whatever it is..
