A Decade of Blogging

On September 15, 2008 I asked a question,

Is there anybody out there?” I wondered.

Amazingly, there was,

and ten years later,

I’m still here.

Thank you for reading, visiting, commenting.

I always appreciate it.

The Wordle above is made up of my most used and favourite tags and categories over the ten years.

Congratulations! I love the idea of the wordle… my students used to make these all the time, but I can’t get it to work any more, which is a shame because it’s such a vivid image.
And thank you for all you’ve contributed to the blogosphere!

Thank you Lisa. (You need to use an old browser that works with Java, e.g. Explorer to get Wordle to work! – Chrome/Bing/Edge don’t support Java).

Yes, it’s a pity. I tried it with Firefox and that didn’t work either. and it’s all just too hard to have to reinstall old browsers to make it work… (It’s usually the other way round for me, that something new doesn’t work with whatever is new, but just this once, I have a new computer with all the bells and whistles!)

Dear Annabel, Congratulations! Ten years is a huge achievement, and must represent about 50 human years, I reckon. And if you throw in Shiny too, that probably brings it up to 80 or so… Shiny was such a joy and I loved doing that with you and Harriet and Simon. May you have many many more happy book-filled years in the blogosphere, my friend. xx

    • AnnaBookBel says:

You’re too kind Victoria. Thank you so much. You know there’s always a place for you at Shiny too… xx

Though until recently I’ve been an infrequent visitor it feels as if you’ve been there all the time I’ve been blogging (a mere stripling: April 2012) so huge congrats, felicitations, complimenti, llongyfarchiadau!

I appear to have been at it for THIRTEEN YEARS! Here’s my first, illuminating, post: “OK so I have this thing and I thought I would actually use it as well as read other people’s journals. I’m not really happy sharing all my thoughts and feelings and doings, so I’m just going to use it to record my reading. I keep a reading journal anyway and share a comment or two about each book with my friends on Yahoo Groups BookiesToo, BCUK and BCBirmingham, but this will have the full review for each book.”

    • AnnaBookBel says:

Blimey! Well done you. My first post was equally illuminating – saying Hello, but I’ve got to go and listen to Pink Floyd as they’ve just announced Rick Wright’s death. Back soon – or something like that.

Many congratulations, Annabel, and here’s to the next decade of sharing reading experiences. My first post was a review of a book called Hello World about design which made me feel a whole lot better about my apparent ineptitude with mechanical things.

Congratulations, Annabel. It’s lovely to see that you’re still so keen to read and blog about books after all this time – that’s a great achievement!
