NORDIC FINDS is back for Jan 2023

After the success of my first Nordic FINDS Reading Project this January (wrap-up post here, dedicated page here), I’ve been asked if I was bringing it back to make it a regular reading month. Well, I couldn’t resist!

This year I dedicated the first five weeks of 2022 to one of the five countries per week, including a ‘gateway’ read for each one. I loved it, but it did require dedication.

For 2023, I will aim to read one book per country, and will simply encourage anyone who’d like to join in to pick up one or more titles from FINDS authors at any time during the month.

  • Finland
  • Iceland
  • Norway
  • Denmark
  • Sweden

I’ve updated the graphic to your right – feel free to use.

Group Read

I have chosen a group read though if you’re up for it. One particular Scandi-crime novel has repeatedly been recommended to me, so let’s read the debut novel by the creator of hit TV series The Killing

The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup

Translated from the Swedish by Caroline Waight. A warning though – this does sound very dark!

BUY at Blackwell’s via my affiliate link.

I hope some of you will make some Nordic FINDS and share them in January.

Haven’t got that far yet! I’ll probably just post during the last week of January, with a few tweets in between on progress.

Great, I love this challenge. Will do better next year and prepare properly. I have seen the tv-series of the Chestnut Man which is very good. The author is Danish. Looking forward reading it together.

I have a couple of unread titles from the last FINDS read so I’ll look those out, plus I have a library copy of an Astrid Lindgren title which I may wait to read for then!

I will be a first time participant #NORDCFinds and am searching for books as we speak! I see you have a Nordic reading list on your blog…there must be something I’ll like! Is the challenge for a month or 2 weeks?

Brilliant! I’m going to use it to get my massive book of sagas read at last – I’ll divide the days in the challenge by the number of pages I have left. Hope that’s OK, but I’m sure it is!

Oh, I love this challenge! I have a book from Iceland (Animal Life by Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir) and Aliss by the Fire by Jon Fosse. Count me in, I can’t wait!
